Now a Northern Ireland company has played a major part in Great Scotland Yard's transformation into a luxury hotel after winning a £5.5m deal.
Joinery business Deluxe Group from Portadown was appointed to manufacture and fit all front of house areas for the luxury 153-bedroom Great Scotland Yard Hotel.
Deluxe Group, which has around 40 staff, worked with developer Galliard in a six-month project which involved perfecting features like the venue's grand entrance lounge, cocktail bar, whisky bar, ballroom and gym.
The firm also produced the sample bedroom of the luxury hotel, which will operate as a Hyatt Hotels property.
Colm Connolly, director of Deluxe Group, said: "We are delighted to have been part of the team which has sympathetically developed this building to give a classic period interpretation, reflecting the immense history of such a landmark site.Great Scotland Yard was the headquarters for the Metropolitan Police from 1820 to 1890.
