Civil or Geotechnical Engineer

CSR are currently recruiting for an Civil or Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Belfast / Derry / Co Antrim 

The role 

To provide support to the Geotechnical Consultant / Nominated Project Manager who has ownership for the full project management of multiple overhead line projects, including managing staff and delegating tasks to ensure the achievement of all deliverables in a timely manner, financial management, budget control and on-site supervising & monitoring of Foundation Assessment & Ground Investigations.

To provide Technical Expertise to the Company, reviewing and development of Company Systems and provision Technical Training as appropriate, and the mentoring of Junior Engineers/Graduates.

 

Project Engineering

  • Supervising & monitoring Foundation Assessment & Ground Investigation works initially Northern Ireland
  • Carrying out Site Inspections on workmanship, materials, finishes, reinstatement and testing to ensure compliance with drawing & specifications.
  • Managing and monitoring subcontractors on site, reviewing and commenting on proposed working methods and techniques and ensuring compliance with all relevant Health & Safety policies.
  • Liaison with other Departments to ensure modification to construction drawings are undertaken.
  • Ensuring that all data required by Clients is collected & recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Preparing & maintaining daily reports /progress photo and logs of onsite progress.
  • Providing guidance to Clients on civil engineering related technical queries raised.
  • Responsible for undertaking feasibility, desk study and site reconnaissance.
  • Preparing and reviewing of factual and interpretive reports.
  • If required, responsible for direct liaison with client customers and landowners effected by works.
  • As required responsible for any direct liaison with other statutory undertakers
  • Responsible for Compilation of information required to complete contractor and internal KPIs.

Additional Responsibilities

Quality Systems and Health & Safety

  • Provide reports to the manager to demonstrate all work completed complies with the client’s brief.
  • Ensure all QA, Environmental and Safety Documentation is prepared and issued in accordance with company procedures.

Any other reasonable duties as directed by nominated manager.

Person Specification

Experience / Job Skills

  • Minimum 6 years post graduate engineering experience within the construction industry.
  • Ideally have incorporated membership of Professional Institution or working towards membership but not essential.
  • Good knowledge of relevant specifications and legislation.
  • Ability to read, interpret and assess against civil engineering related specifications and drawings.
  • Experience of: Inspecting structural concrete; Ground Investigation and concrete testing.
  • Ability to plan, manager and undertake site inspections, and investigations.
  • Experience of managing and monitoring subcontractors on site, ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety Policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge and experience in applying relevant essential Health & Safety issues as required by legislation and applicable directives.
