Financial Accountant

Are you a qualified Accountant looking for a public sector position with excellent salary, benefits and working conditions? Are you comfortable working on a three month contract basis (there is possibility of extension beyond this period, details of which can be explained during interview process).

Our client is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced Financial Accountant to provide an effective reporting service and ensure that statutory, regulatory and internal reporting requirements are met. The Financial Accountant is also responsible for Treasury Management and the preparation of the annual Corporation Tax Computation, including the chargeable gains calculation.

 

Reporting to the Chief Accountant the core duties will include:

·         Prepare Statutory Accounts / Whole of Government Accounts / Department for Communities (DfC) Accounts Pack in accordance with the agreed timetable

·         Prepare the annual Corporation Tax computation, including the chargeable gains calculation in accordance with the agreed timetable

·         Review the annual standardised calculation to enable the correct rates charge to be applied at the beginning of each financial year and ensure the Rates Expenditure is correctly accounted for

·         Review the Annual Investment Strategy each year, and ensure it is approved by Board paper

·         Manage the investment of funds process

·         Provide accounting advice to the Business and Programme Management Section in respect of funding of other bodies.

·         Prepare reports for Chief Executive’s Business Committee, Audit Committee and other business areas as and when required.

·         Represent the Finance Division in respect of Financial Accounting matters on working groups and committees as assigned by the Chief Accountant.

 

In addition to a recognized Accounting qualification applicants must have:

-       experience of preparing and presenting financial information to senior management,

OR

-       significant budget preparation or budgetary control responsibility.

 

2 years experience of responsibility for producing Annual Statutory Accounts is essential. Furthermore candidates must also have 2 years experience in interpreting and applying relevant Financial Reporting Standards or International Financial Reporting Standards for the production of Statutory Accounts.

 

Those candidates with experience in preparation of the annual Corporation Tax Computation will be of particular interest.
