HSEQ Officer - Greater Belfast

Our Client is a medium sized specialist contractor that currently holds accreditation to ISO 9001: 2008 and ISO 14001:2008 and Safe-T-Cert. They also undergoes regular industry specific audits though there corporate membership of demolition specific trade organisations. 

Due to increasing workload and growth they have asked The CSR Group to recruit a HSEQ Officer, ideally with demonstrable experience of working within the construction / demolition sector. The successful candidate will be based in Belfast however travel to sites throughout NI and UK will be required (approx. 1-2 days a month). A generous remuneration pack is available to the successful candidate.

Main Duties include:

·         Working as a key member of a small management team.

·         Developing and maintaining site specific HSEQ documentation. Examples:

Environmental and Construction Management Plans,

Risk assessments and Method Statements,

Site specific plans such as traffic management, SWMPs, etc.

Traffic Management Plans; Pre-demolition Audits; Waste Management Plans.

·         Assisting with PQQs and various other Tender submission requirements.

·         Understanding relevant legislation and complying with same.

·         Assisting in the maintenance of the Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality Management System.

·         Participating in audit systems and management arrangements.

·         Carrying out regular site inspections and site inductions; completing toolbox talks; recording audits.

·         Working with Contracts Manager, office staff and site teams to ensure that site documentation is relevant, timely and accurate.

·         Participating in Company training, occ health, etc.

·         Supporting further development to our existing HSEQ systems.

·         Managing design improvements for Company HSEQ documentation.

·         Helping reduce the number of H&S incidents to zero accidents.

·         Other tasks as set and deemed appropriate by the HSEQ Director.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential criteria:

·         Educated to third level in a business, environmental or health & safety related discipline.

·         Clean driving license and access to own transport.

·         Evidence of continuous professional development.

·         At least one to two years’ experience in a similar type role.

·         Broad understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and Codes of Practice.

·         Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.

·         IT Literate – Windows, Autodesk, etc.

·         Ability to prioritise own workload and balance demands from numerous sources.

Desirable:

·         Previous experience working in demolition / construction environment.

Person profile:

·         Educated to third level in a business, environmental or health & safety related discipline.

·         Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.

·         Ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels.

·         Strong ability to self-manage and to use initiative to complete tasks effectively.
