Health & Safety Advisor - North Scotland

Our Client, a UK wide main contractor, are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team onsite in the North of Scotland and throughout the UK. 

The successful candidate will work within a supportive environment and will assist in generating and promoting a positive health and safety culture across the wider business.

Duties and responsibilities

Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management.

Adopt and implement working practices that are safe and comply with current legislation.

Organise onsite inductions.

Carry out internal training and maintain training matrix and records.

Maintain project Health and Safety registers, ensure information is recorded accurately and within agreed timeframes.

Chair and complete minutes of Health and Safety meetings, ensure action plans are made, including timely completion of action plans.

Collate Health and Safety data. 

Carry out risk assessments and give consideration to how risks can be minimised, make recommendations and ensure implementation of changes are agreed by the SHEQ Manager.

Co-ordinate RAMS registers and approvals.

Conduct regular site inspections, ensuring policies and procedures are being correctly implemented.

Share best practice and drive for continuous improvements.

Engage with the Client on all matter relating to H&S

Working conditions

The successful candidate will be expected to travel as part of their role to construction sites, Company fixed locations or other locations as requested by  Senior Management. 

This role will be based in North Scotland.

Qualifications

NEBOSH Certificate.

An appropriate and valid CSCS / CSR card.

Full Driving License.

First Aid at Work 

Experience

Sound knowledge of the construction industry (civils) with 3-5 years of Health & Safety Advisor.

Passionate about Health and Safety, with good career continuity.

Sound knowledge of latest, legislation and Health and Safety best practice.

Working knowledge in Microsoft Office packages.

Skills & Competencies

Good communication skills (verbal and written) and able to engage with all stakeholders at all levels.

Self-motivated. Capable of working on own initiative and able to motivate a team.

Excellent attention to detail and meticulous planning  and organizational skills.

Good IT and numerical skills.

Self-starter able to work within a team setting.

Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise.

An excellent professional demeanor.

 

Flexible approach to working hours and various different locations throughout the UK and ROI if required.
