Junior/ Intermediate Quantity Surveyor - Mid Ulster

A Junior- Intermediate Quantity Surveyor opportunity exists for a well-known building contractor based in Mid-Ulster.

This opportunity will allow a Quantity Surveyor to gain exposure on a range of projects valued from £20M new build design & build to minor works schemes.

Based in Northern Ireland on a full-time basis, you will predominately be based in HO with site visits required 1-2 days per week.

Duties:

  • To interpret and measure tender drawings
  • To prepare pricing documents including quantities for the purpose of estimating or tendering
  • To review Bills of Quantities, prepare rates, allocate sub-contract/supplier packages, market engagement to secure sub-contract/supplier quotations to develop tender proposals for a range of procurement routes.
  • Identify key risks and opportunities ensuring that they are effectively queried where appropriate at tender stage to gain as much clarity as possible.
  • To undertake site inspections, record information, sketch, measure and photograph site
  • To Vet & assess prospective service partners (consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors) and ensure all relevant details are submitted at appropriate time
  • To assess material, labour and equipment requirements
  • To correspond with various parties for purposes of obtaining quotes
  • To undertake cost analysis
  • To procure materials, services, labour, equipment etc.
  • To produce construction programmes
  • To control costs during construction process
  • To liaise with sub-contractors, agreeing work plan and conditions
  • To value interim and completed work and arrange payments
  • To value change, assess claims and agree final accounts
  • To prepare regular costing reports
  • To plan and organise work efficiently to meet project deadlines

 

Essential Criteria:

A degree in Quantity Surveying/ or a construction related discipline is essential, along with 2-3 years' minimum experience within a contractor environment.

You will be a strong negotiator with commercial awareness. You will be confident dealing with clients, subcontractors and senior management. You will possess excellent organisation and communication skills.
