Quality Manager (Production)

The CSR Group have been retained by a local, UK wide Facades contractor to recruit a Quality Manager (Production) for a new position within the company.

The Quality Manager will focus on quality and continuous improvement within the Factory.  They will manage a team of QC Technicians to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded, satisfying both internal and external customer’s expectations and ensuring that quality control procedures are followed.  Using a pro-active approach, the post-holder will identify areas for improvement using data gathered by QC Technicians (and other sources).  They will be a leader in continuous improvement initiatives and events in the factory.

Duties:

·         Co‐ordinate all activities required to direct and control the factory manufacturing quality. In particular to review product quality requirements for individual clients and projects, to ensure those requirements are understood and implemented to manage the quality of manufactured items to meet the requirements of the contract specifications.

·         Ensure the on-going development of the company management systems by managing quality and business improvement functions within the organisation

·         Continuously review quality control processes, procedures and capabilities in order to sustain the most cost effective and efficient methods for meeting quality requirements, and making recommendation for improvement as appropriate.

·         Review client QC requirements and ensure that quality control documentation for a project meets contractual requirements.

·         Will manage the NCR process relating to production issues

·         Co‐ordinate and control the day to day operations of Quality Technicians and inspection personnel, so as to provide a safe, secure and efficient working environment.

·         Ensure all physical resources are maintained, stored and organised to allow efficient and effective operation.

·         Control and direct all QC resources, operations and facilities in order to adhere to project programmes. To manage and direct a team of skilled, semi‐skilled and technically based individuals through sound personnel practices

·         Plan, implement and improve internal quality performance statistics, ensuring opportunities for improvement are highlighted.

·         Resolve internal issues and raise corrective actions where necessary.

·         Drive corrective and preventive actions stemming from internal issues, audits, and customer issues.

·         Train or organise training of personnel in quality related disciplines.

·         Will be technically involved with design technicians and production to ensure that products are manufactured to QA requirements.

·         Ensure correct FPC (Factory Production Control) procedures and Documentations are in place for the CE marking of fabricated products.

·         Producing work procedures to ensure the correct use of materials and components for factory use.

·         Plan, implement and improve quality procedures and work instructions across the company, including productions, calibrations, goods inward, inspection and test. To conduct quality audits on company processes, quality systems and procedures.

·         Continually review manufacturing and no-manufacturing processes for effectiveness and efficiency/ initiate continuous improvement activity and drive actions. To provide support to all departments with issues relation to quality and inspection test plans

·         Responsible for providing and developing an approach to business process improvement, including active hands on implementation.

·         Play a key role in leading the organisational change within the company through continuous improvement of business processes, productivity, manufacturing technologies and plant.

·         Lead and drive business improvement throughout the organisation by application of appropriate business improvement tools and lean techniques, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), developing a continuous improvement ethos within the organisation, engaging workforce at all levels

 

Other Responsibilities:

·         Co-operate with management regarding matters of health, safety and welfare.

·         Take part in training provided by the company.

·         Flexibility in relation to travel, to support customers and suppliers.

·         Assist when required with internal and external audits.

 

 

Qualifications & experience:

·         This role will demand a high level of responsibility and commitment. You will need excellent time management skills and demonstrated focus on attention to detail.

·         HNC or Equivalent in engineering related discipline.

·         QA exposure/working within ISO 9001 environment

·         Implementation of recognised continuous improvement techniques such as 5s, kaizen, lean, 6 sigma

·         Must represent the best interests of the company at all times in a professional and positive manner.

·         Must set an example on behaviour, attendance, safety, fairness etc.

·         Must function effectively as a team player with all company personnel, maintaining clear and factual communication at all times.

·         Must be highly pro-active and have excellent communication skills.  

·         Must demonstrate clear initiative, creativity, and the ability to develop solutions to satisfy customer requirements.

·         Must be confident in his/her ability to utilise the appropriate techniques to drive improvement within the organisation to achieve organisational goals

·         Experience of working within a manufacturing environment.

·         Experience of aluminium window, façade design and production would be advantageous.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office software, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook a requirement

 

·         Ability to work on own initiative.
