Section Engineer

CSR are currently recruiting for a Section Engineer on behalf of one of the UK and Ireland’s biggest construction contractors.  The successful candidate will be joining a workforce comprising of successful and determined individuals working throughout the UK and Ireland.

About the Company

The client is one of the UKs leading and established contracting firm boasting a vast history of projects. Dealing primarily out of Northern Ireland they also offer a broad range of projects  throughout the UK.

About the Role

The client is offering a new and exciting opportunity for a Section Engineer to join their over growing team of determined and successful professionals in a £15 million redevelopment project in Belfast city centre.  The role offers an excellent base for long term project experience and career progression.  The ideal candidate will be expected to have a proven track record of successful delivery on previous, similar projects. 

 

Undertake Surveying and setting out duties.

• Check drawings and quantities.

• Schedule selected materials for ordering from the procurement department.

• Plan the work and efficiently organise site operations in order to meet an agreed programme of deadlines.

• Liaise with any consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary.

• Supervise and monitor the site labour force and monitor the work of any sub-contractors.

• Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.

• Ensure quality records necessary to meet quality requirements are maintained.

• Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.

• Arrange testing of materials.

• Undertake the testing and calibration of instruments used.

• Keep a Site Diary.

• Fully interact with other members of the construction site team (team player).

• Liaise with other function/departmental managers.

• Introduce improvements and innovation where appropriate to areas of responsibility.

• Other duties as required by the Site Manager to facilitate construction of the works.

 

Qualifications/Skills

·         Reporting to the Site Manager

·         HND/Degree in civil engineering is preferable

·         Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation

·         Experience within civil engineering/construction works covering a range of disciplines

·         Minimum 2-3 years setting out experience

·         Ability to set out on site

·         Experience of working in a fast paced and busy environment

·         Maintain strong working relationships with everyone on site
