Solicitor/ Public sector/ Social Housing

CSR are currently working on behalf of a highly regarded public sector body, to recruit for a Solicitor. Based in Belfast you will work as part of the legal services management team.

The role will primarily involve the day to day conduct on behalf of the organisation of the defence and prosecution of litigation in the County Court, High Court and Small claims Court.

To recover possession of dwellings on statutory grounds

To assist as required in the defence of judicial review applications

Provide accurate and timely advice on matters to the functions and exercise of the powers and duties of the organisation including the interpretation of legislation and the requirements of administrative law.

Carry out all the foregoing duties in a proactive manner and comply with all relevant time limits and rules of court.

To participate in training programmes

To participate in corporate meetings when required

To also undertake other relevant duties to the department as may from time to time be required.

The person:

You must be a fully qualified Solicitor holding current practising certificate for Northern Ireland

At least 2 years relevant experience

A current Northern Ireland Law Society – Practising Certificate

Experience of litigation

Experience in any of the following –

Seeking/ defending injunctions, advisory work or litigation involving Human Rights, Judicial Review, Housing Law and/ Or possession of property/ recovery of debt, representation in small claims

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a public sector role with 33 days holiday (inc stats). You will also have the opportunity to apply for internal roles after 6 months within the role.

You will be paid on a weekly basis and an Access NI will be processed for the successful candidate prior to any agreed start date. Salary is offered on scale and can be reviewed based on current salary.
